A stunning 3ct Pear Shape top gem quality Emerald & Diamond Ring comes to our live Fine Jewellery & Swiss Watch Auction to be held in Burnaby, BC.  Emerald connoisseurs know that in the precious gem category, the greens are the most difficult to find in large sizes, with a high color, and high clarity.  Specifically, one can find a strongly coloured Emerald, but to find one with a very high quality crystal is nearly impossible.  This is due, in part, to the fact that Emeralds contain naturally occurring crystals that produce a “Jardin” or Garden effect inside the stone.  The second factor is the fact that often, Emeralds reside in hard packed shale and calcite deposits, and often has to be mined using blasting methods, which further affects the clarity of the Emerald.  Clarity enhancements range from heavy to minor oil treatments, which are acceptable to the trade and collectors.  The lower the exposure to treatments, the higher the price, and collection value, however, most collectors accept the treatments, and focus on the beauty of the gem instead.  This Lot comes with a GIA Certificate, confirming minor oil treatment.
